And the final score is:

 Hornchurch 2 - Dulwich Hamlet 1

As you can guess I wasn’t there but I’m sure one of the lads will do a proper match report soon. Meanwhile I’ll do a proper blog post now as I haven’t done one in a while and frankly I’m at home (Devon) and more then a little bored.

The dream is over for Dulwich Hamlet for this year and in a way this FA Cup run is a bit less exciting now.

I’m really sad that I won’t be watching the pink and black (OK dark blue but who the hell would turn their nose up at a Bret Hart reference?!?) attack now, I’ve grown really attached to them, I’d love to catch some more Dulwich games now, if only to see my future wife at The Vale. I can now safely say that Dulwich Hamlett sit third in the list of teams I love alongside Plymouth Argyle and Reading.

These past few weeks I’ve grown attached to some of the players, the ‘legendary’ Chuck Martini and his infamous exit from the club, Henry Darko with his pace and well not much else really, the bumbling fool that is Anton Innocent and the living legend that is PHIL, truly the man who puts the super in supersub. I’ll also miss the quite superb little ground that Dulwich have which included the turnstiles that don’t let fat people or cripples in, the really quite nice bar in the main stand or the quite astounding variety of sauces to put on your bacon baguette. The New Wembley or Champion Hill Stadium? Easy decision my friend.

Now grudgingly we continue our adventure following Hornchurch, a place which sounds like a laugh just to get to. I must admit that I’m praying for an away draw, let’s not forget that this coming round is when the titans from the Blue Square Premiership (In all our hearts it’s still the Vauxhall Conference) make their apperance so fingers crossed for a trip away to Torquay or Exeter eh? Lucky it’s still regionalised so the pleasures of Farsley Celtic will have to be enjoyed another day.

From the text messages which my phone is being bombarded with it sounds like they are having a good time (as good as Sunday 2 weeks ago? I doubt it) so I look forward to the 27th of October when I’ll be back watching Hornchurch against whoever.

I’d like to finish with a famous footballing quote. ‘Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I’m very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it’s much more important then that’.

The above quote is bullshit.  (I know Shankly was saying it in jest, shame people seem to have forgotton about that)
