Martinigate: Redux
The Chairman and Management Committee of Godalming Town are delighted to unveil Chuck Martini as the new First Team Manager.Chuck has previous professional playing experience under Martin O’Neill at Wycombe Wanderers and Leicester City. He has also played in America and represented Morocco at Youth and Under 21 level. More recently he has had spells with Molesey, Worthing and Dulwich Hamlet. This is Chuck’s first post in senior football management but the committee were thoroughly impressed by his ambition and plans for Godalming Town. Chuck will be in charge of tomorrows game with Taunton Town in the FA Trophy but the team will be picked by Paul Donaghy. He also hopes to appoint an Assistant in the next week.
So Chucky, we will meet again, as Dulwich Hamlet will meet Godalming Town in the Surrey Seniors Cup next month. I have no idea where Godalming is, but I feel that on the 27th November we might be finding out. I didn’t realise that Chuck Martini, goalkeeping legend, had been at such a string of fine clubs. He’s even going to “call on the inspiration of his high-profile mentor to help him realise his vision for Godalming Town ” after spending “the best eight years of his playing career under Martin O’Neill”, O’Neill having signed the Moroccan twice.
For those who don’t understand what the chuck is going on, read up on what happened in deal and as a reminder of the quality of Chuck Martini, this youtube is too good not to repost:
Chuck’s first game in charge? Sadly they lost 2-1 at home to Taunton going out of the FA Trophy, I will be following their results closely now though, and find out where the hell Godalming actually is.
