Footballing prowess vs Vocal prowess
I’ve not been to a huge amount of football matches this year, but the match at the weekend reminded me of an interesting thing often seen in the lower leagues, that being where the amount that a player shouts and screams at team-mates is inversely proportional to their footballing ability. I’m going to try keeping tabs on the loudest players in future matches and see whether this theory holds true.
From Saturday’s match it seemed that Dulwich’s keeper and number 11 often had a lot to say, but didn’t really contribute a huge amount to the match. Keepers tend to be very vocal anyway, so I’ll ignore him in this case, but his shouts about “keeping it boss” were highly entertaining. Number 11 however didn’t manage to contribute anything positive to the match at all, yet spent a lot of time shouting about this or that, I’ll be keeping an eye on him this evening at the replay in Deal to see if he can do any better this time around.
